Fortnite will be crossing over with Naruto in the coming days, with a new skin, cosmetic bundle and even a dedicated creative hub.
This anime collaboration has been rumored for a long time and was even mentioned in our predictions piece for Fortnite Season 8. In that article, we noted that reputable data miners had uncovered evidence of Naruto: Shippuden (which is a sequel series) coming to the battle royale shooter, and that they were teasing a few more specific details as well, like the fact that the costume was reportedly going to be accompanied by exploding kunai knives.
While it was initially hoped that this content would debut as part of the Fortnite Season 8 battle pass, fans were left disappointed when the reward system launched in mid-September without Naruto anywhere in sight (and with Carnage as the only prominent licensed character).
Thankfully, Epic Games has now confirmed on Twitter that the crossover is indeed a real thing and that it will be happening sooner than you might think.
When Is Naruto Coming to 'Fortnite'?
Fortnite Season 8 is expected to wrap up in the next few weeks (on December 5), but Naruto will make his long-overdue appearance before then.
As confirmed by the official tweet, the Naruto: Shippuden content will be added to Fortnite on Tuesday, November 16.
Trustworthy data miner @HYPEX has narrowed this window down even further, by indicating that the update will take place at 9 a.m. ET. It is worth noting that they are usually spot on when it comes to reporting on these things (they accurately leaked the recent Dune bundle, for instance) but it should still be taken with a pinch of salt. In fact, @HYPEX themselves mentions that the timing is subject to change and that there could feasibly be delays.
How Much Will the Naruto Skin Cost?
The official tweet from Epic Games does not really tell us that much about the upcoming Naruto content (other than its release date).
For more concrete details, we instead have to turn to those aforementioned leaker accounts like @HYPEX and @ShiinaBR. The latter has posted an image of the cosmetics that will allegedly be coming to the Fortnite item shop on November 16.
As you can see, there appear to be four separate outfits (including one for the titular ninja himself), each with their own corresponding pieces of back bling. From left to right, the skins are as follows: Kakashi Sensei, Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto and Sakura Haruno.
Given that we do not know the exact specifics of what will be coming in the update, it is difficult to forecast exact pricing for these. If they are anything like the recent Jinx or Shadow Midas outfits, then the skins will probably cost 1,500 V-bucks each (about $10).
Of course, they could be bundled together in more expensive packages, as was the case with the Dune cosmetics. If there is a collective deal, we would expect that to surpass that 4,000 v-bucks mark.
In addition to all of this, @HYPEX has also indicated that the Hidden Leaf Village location from Naruto: Shippuden will also be added as a creative hub. If that's the case, then this part of the crossover will be free for everybody to access.
