Epic Games adds the complete set of Dino Guard items to the in-game Fortnite shop, including a brand new glider that looks and acts like a Pterodactyl.
The already massively popular shooter Fortnite got another significant boost last week when Nintendo finally revealed and launched the game for the Nintendo Switch. As such, the game reached a new player milestone, crossing the 125 million player mark despite PS4 players quickly discovered that their Epic accounts are being blocked by Sony from being able to login on the handheld. Even though season 4 is centered around the idea of superheroes, the ever-growing amount of dinosaur themed customization items continues to grow with the latest addition.
Announced over Twitter, the new Pterodactyl glider has been added to the in-game Fortnite shop as an Epic level item. Players can pick up the new item for 1,200 V-Bucks and unlike normal gliders, the Pterodactyl actually flaps its wings and screeches, giving it the appearance of actually being alive. Not only that, the item has a unique animation where it appears to hatch out of an egg once players open it during the initial descent.
As the glider is part of the Dino Guard set, Epic Games has also made the rest of the gear available as well. This includes the original legendary Rex outfit, legendary Tricera Ops outfit, the epic Bitemark harvesting tool, and uncommon Fossil Flyer glider. To complete the collection, the RAWR emote is also available for 500 V-Bucks, which causes the player character to act and sound like a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Outside of cosmetic news, a new and mysterious in-game event has taken hold once more. As Switch players descended into Battle Royale, a countdown timer could be seen on televisions as well as a hologram of a missile at the villain's base. The game has since been updated so that the villain's base now depicts the timer in a presumed days, hours, minutes, and seconds format. Naturally, speculation from the community surrounds the idea of the missile hitting a portion of the map, which would allow Epic to craft a new area from the ashes in a similar manner to the comet disaster creating the new Dusty Divot area.
Fortnite is available now for Nintendo Switch, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
