Whichever size you choose, you still get a slim bezel with a compact footprint, and an excellent keyboard with backlighting. The roomier A50-K provides a full numeric keypad too.
The Tecra A50-K looks magnificent with its stylish, robust chassis coated in an antibacterial Mystic Blue paint finish. iTWire enjoyed the 15.6” fold-flat IPS non-glare display and appreciated the fast 12th generation Intel Core CPU, Iris Xe graphics, SSD drives, and DDR4 RAM. It’s a snappy, responsive unit that fired up quickly, and offered up applications and documents as rapidly as we could request them.
iTWire tried the Tecra A50-K out with the Microsoft Office suite, SQL Server, VMware, and a range of other business apps. In everything, the Tecra showed no signs of struggle or suffering. It also remained quiet under load with its dual-fan cooling system.
We did make the machine stutter and the fans ramp up with a bit of Fortnite, but this was no surprise - the Iris Xe graphics are capable of HD graphics but aren’t comparable to a dedicated video card and, of course, the Dynabook is a business machine, not a gaming one. Nothing here is unexpected, but it is worth noting if you hope your office laptop can also entertain the family after hours.
Video playback is a different story, with YouTube, Plex, and a range of other media apps performing seamlessly.
So, Dynabook has delivered a tremendous machine once again if you need to process words, crunch numbers, dive into the data, develop software, administer servers, browse the web, or more.
However, as noted above, it's not just a machine for the worker themselves; it's designed firmly with ease of administration and deployment, and also with security embedded from the start - not simply an oversight. This begins with Dynabook’s proprietary BIOS, dTPM 2.0, encryption, and full Windows Hello fingerprint and face authentication support. It checks all the boxes for Microsoft’s Secured-core PC requirements and protects its users against data, device, and identity threats.
In fact, despite its lightweight chassis, the machine has been engineered to MIL STD 810-H standards surviving drops, temperature variations, humidity, vibration, and shocks, and even spills on the keyboard.
The RAM can be expanded up to 32GB, with two slots available, and the 53Wh battery delivers over 10 hours of work on a single charge, recharging to 40% of capacity within 30 minutes.
The built-in HD webcam includes a physical shutter slider to let you control when you're on-air and when you’re not as well as providing AI-smarts to assist in lighting correction and face-framing to keep you looking your best. The dual Cortona-ready near-field microphones pick up your voice crisply while tuning out background noise. The stereo speakers with DTS audio processing ensure you enjoy your music, podcasts, and calls. Make “can you hear me” a thing of the past, and ensure clear communication takes place.
It includes two Thunderbolt-4 USB-C ports that support docking, charging, data transfer, and screen sharing for up to four monitors. It also includes HDMI 2.0, ethernet, Intel AX211 2x2 Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, giving you a rich range of connectivity options.
