ObiWan Kenobi Comes To Fortnite Just In Time For The Disney+ Show

Epic will drop Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Fortnite Item Shop later this month, an update that comes just in time for the Star Wars hero's Disney+ show.

Next week, Epic Games plans to add Obi-Wan Kenobi to the Fortnite Item Shop - just in time for the Star Wars character's new Disney+ series. Plenty of Disney-owned characters have joined the online game's roster of late, thanks to recent film and TV releases. Wanda Maximoff landed on Fortnite Island earlier this month, for instance, in honor of her role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Doctor Strange similarly hit the live-service title this year, as did Moon Knight because of his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut on Disney's streaming platform.

Unsurprisingly, a fair few noteworthy Star Wars heroes and villains previously joined the fray in Fortnite, as well. Such releases date back to 2019, with characters like the Imperial Stormtrooper entering the mix that November to coincide with the launch of Electronic Arts' and Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Finn, Rey, and Kylo Ren have come and gone in the past, too, though each one recently reappeared in the Item Shop for Star Wars Day 2022 on May 4.

Star Wars Day is over, yet Epic Games plans to close out this month by adding at least one more beloved character to Fortnite's ever-growing roster. Obi-Wan Kenobi will enter the Item Shop on May, 26, one day before his Disney+ show begins streaming. This particular arrival will include an Obi-Wan Outfit, Blade Pickaxe, Desert Essentials Back Bling, Jedi Interceptor Glider, and Obi-Wan's Message Emote. Players can either purchase these items separately or in a bundle; better still, the bundle boasts the Kenobi, Surrounded Loading Screen (featured image). Fortnite users have a chance to unlock the Outfit and Back Bling early by participating in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Cup, a Battle Royale Duos tournament slated to kick off on Sunday, May 22.

Obi-Wan's forthcoming debut combined with Fortnite's recent unvaulting of several Star Wars-themed items guarantees that fans of both franchises have plenty to sink their teeth into for the time being. With other Disney+ shows such as Andor and The Bad Batch Season 2 rolling out this year, this may not mark the last time that characters from a galaxy far, far away join in on the battle royale fun.

Even more Star Wars-related video game news is bound to begin making the rounds in the coming days because of Star Wars Celebration 2022. The event starts on May 26 and wraps up on May 29; notably, industry insiders claim Electronic Arts and Respawn will formally unveil Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order's sequel during the event. Hopes are also high that Ubisoft's Star Wars adventure will receive a tease of some kind.
