Fortnite has created some truly outrageous, fun, and whimsical character skins since its initial battle royale inception way back in 2017. While the game started out with basic character skins, once the season format arrived, Fortnite has never looked back. For the uninitiated, character skins are essentially new characters to play as in Fortnite battle royale. Throughout the years, Epic Games has created some truly memorable skins, and that's not even mentioning the licensed properties they have partnered with for crossovers.
There is likely a Fortnite skin for everybody to enjoy and this is especially true for Nintendo fans. While not everyone will agree on their favorites, Nintendo fans will likely enjoy the more cartoony, quirky, and Nintendo-esque skins the game has to offer. The following character skins are some of the coolest and most unique ones that Nintendo fans will surely get a kick out of.
10 Peely
- Banana Bunch Set
Fortnite is sure known for its bizarre and wacky skins and this is no truer than with the Peely skin. The Peely skin is a sentient, walking, talking banana. Peely has been around since the early days of the game, specifically, Season 8 of Chapter 1. Not only has Peely been around for a long time but he has also been a long-standing part of the game's overall lore.
This cartoony banana is equal parts charming and creepy. Apart from the unique design of the skin, Peely's banana qualities also take shape during a match where the skin ripens the longer players last in a given battle royale match.
9 Meowscles
- Swole Cat Set
It should come as no surprise that a character skin involving a cat would be popular hence why Fortnite decided to add the uber-buff feline-themed skin, Meowscles in Chapter 2 Season 2. Meowscles was joined by Midas and crew in this spy-themed season and continues to be featured prominently in the game's lore.
Meowscles' design, much like Peely, is both charming and creepy. A human-like cat with bulging muscles is certainly a strange sight to behold, however, there's no denying his cute cartoony persona.
8 Skye
- Quest Friends Set
Skye is one of those rare non-animal character skins that would feel perfectly at home in a Nintendo-style game. Skye is a lovable adventure-filled character who players came to adore in Chapter 2 Season 2.
Skye's cartoony nature replete with a fluffy hat, denim jack with pins, and camera at the ready seems perfect for a character ready for a fun-filled journey. Skye is one of those Fortnite characters that could easily be spun off into a separate storyline down the line should Epic Games wish to flesh out her lore.
7 Toona Fish
- Inkville Gang Set
Toona Fish was a character skin that was introduced towards the end of Chapter 2, specifically in Season 8. This cartoon-like fish character was one of the customizable battle pass skins where its colors could be swapped out at any time from the customization menu. Being able to make Toona Fish look like any other Fortnite skin or even something like Link from The Legend of Zelda.
Toona Fish's bulging eyes and lanky arms and legs give most players quite a chuckle, especially since he contrasts nicely with the environment during a match. It's easy to see how Nintendo fans could love this charming aquatic-themed skin.
6 Snowmando
bunnymoon skin fortnite
- Snowdays Set
For those players who love winter-themed skins then look no further than Snowmando. This sentient snowman who just so happens to be ready for battle looks like he came straight out of a Nintendo 3d platformer. With candy canes at the ready, Snowmando is always ready for action.
Releasing in Chapter 2 Season 5, Snowmando gives off a humanoid vibe but with plenty of snow and ice to still give him that snowman theme. This skin is great to rock all year long but even more so once the winter season approaches. Just don't let him sit too close to the fireplace.
5 Skull Trooper
- Skull Squad Set
One of the classic and most revered and beloved character skins in all of Fortnite has to be Skull Trooper. Even for players that don't regularly play Fortnite, they are still at least somewhat familiar with this Halloween-themed skin, at least in passing.
Skull Trooper is the epitome of an OG Fortnite skin, having released way, way back in the original Season 1 of Chapter 1. While Skull Trooper has returned to the item shop numerous times, especially around Halloween, he remains one of the best, mostly down to the skin's simplicity and spooky charm.
4 Fennix

Fennix might just be one of the most underrated and overlooked anthropomorphic skins in all of Fortnite. While that may seem like a niche category if this list is any indication, Fortnite features dozens upon dozens of similar style skins.
Simply put, Fennix is a massive sentient fox who is donning a sci-fi-looking battle suit. Fennix's eyes glow yellow and he looks equal parts dangerous as he does cuddly. Arriving back in Season X of Chapter 1, Fennix is a great skin that fans of Nintendo and especially Star Fox will love.
3 Wooly Warrior
- No Specific Character Set
The Wooly Warrior skin is such a quirky and goofy skin that it's easy to see this character skin making an appearance in any Nintendo-themed platformer, perhaps as a boss or even a playable character. Wooly Warrior was released in Chapter 2 Season 1.
Another winter-themed skin, Wooly Warrior features a furry suit, large tusks, and plenty of snow and ice jutting out from the skin that it looks like she woke up from a deep and cold slumber.
2 Bunnymoon
- No Specific Character Set
Bunnymoon is a Halloween-themed character skin from Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 6. It's hard to pinpoint the exact design and style of Bunnymoon but this character skin is clearly some sort of bunny/witch/carnival performer. The unique and colorful design of Bunnymoon would lend itself well to a cartoony Nintendo game.
What makes Bunnymoon stand out from other skins is the character's rabbit mask and various stringed lights adorning her. It's easy to see this skin featured as an NPC in a platforming game.
1 Scarlet Defender
- No Specific Character Set
Probably the most "simple" character skin on the entirety of this list, Scarlet Defender shines through with her dynamic red and white color scheme and courageous look about her. Scarlet Defender looks like she would be the star of a Nintendo action-adventure or RPG-style game.
Another OG skin, Scarlet Defender was released way back in Chapter 1 Season 3 but still remains popular to this day with plenty of players donning this fantastic character skin.
