MultiVersus has seen some wild and wacky crossovers already, with DC heroes like Batman fighting alongside cartoon characters like Shaggy or Finn. As the game begins its open beta and nears its launch, there are many characters under the Warner Bros. umbrella that could be thrown into this exciting party brawler. From Lord of the Rings to Regular Show, there are plenty that could join MultiVersus as new playable characters.
As of the closed beta which began July 19, there were sixteen MultiVersus heroes players could choose from. These characters include iconic heroes from various IPs like the Iron Giant, Harley Quinn, Arya Stark, and Tom & Jerry, spanning franchises like DC Comics to the cartoons of Hanna-Barbera. The open beta began on July 26 and featured Space Jam 2's Lebron James as a new playable character, and content based on the first Space Jam movie is also rumored to feature. Rick & Morty's titular duo, Rick and Morty, are set to be featured as heroes for Season 1 of MultiVersus's launch as well.
MultiVersus' Warner Bros. brawl features multiple classes that every character falls into. There are bruisers, assassins, tanks, supports, and mages. Characters like Shaggy and Jake the Dog fit into the bruiser category, being well-rounded characters for players who like to use offensive, brawler tactics in battle. The assassin category includes heroes like Arya Stark and Harley Quinn who can inflict quick, powerful combos but are also glass cannons. Assassins are high-risk and high-reward. Tanks can inflict massive amounts of damage while sustaining a decent amount. Some characters who are tanks include Wonder Woman, Superman, and the Iron Giant. Supports like Reindog and Velma can save their allies from defeat while also dealing out some great combos on their opponents. Lastly, mages like Tom & Jerry tend to utilize more ranged, projectile attacks in combat, making them great for players who wish to keep their distance.
Lord Of The Rings' Gandalf & Legolas Could Come To MultiVersus
Although MultiVersus cut references to Gandalf the Grey recently, the character feels nailed-on to appear at some point. This could just be the developers at Player First Games being extra secretive about MultiVersus and is hopefully nothing for Lord of the Rings fans to worry about. Gandalf was leaked to be a playable hero in the brawler and fans may be able to play him soon, hopefully later on in the game's first or second season.
Gandalf is not the only Lord of the Rings character MultiVersus could add to its roster. Many heroes like Legolas, Gimli, and even Gollum could join the party brawler. Legolas would likely be an assassin class while Gimili would be a brawler. Characters from The Hobbit like Bilbo Baggins and even Smaug could enter the battle as well. Smaug could join MutliVersus's Iron Giant as yet another massive tank character while Bilbo could be a bruiser, assassin, or even support.
MultiVersus Could Add Cartoon Network's Samurai Jack
Samurai Jack and Ben 10 were among the leaked roster of the heroes for Multiversus's post-launch content. So far, only Cartoon Network characters from shows like Scooby-Doo, Adventure Time, and Steven Universe are currently in the game but this could change soon. Samurai Jack would be a great assassin class hero while Ben 10 would likely be a bruiser or even a mage. Ben 10's power to change into aliens would give him a lot of range in terms of playstyle. This could allow him to be the game's first universal hero.
Characters from other Cartoon Network shows could join MultiVersus as well. Regular Show's Mordecai and Rigby are a solid duo that could be added to the game after launch along with The Amazing World of Gumball's Gumball and Darwin. Heroes from older cartoons similar to Samurai Jack may join the fray as well, including characters like Ed, Edd, & Eddy and even Generator Rex. The Powerpuff Girls were also included in the recently leaked roster of MultiVersus characters, so it does seem like Player First Games does plan to incorporate more of Cartoon Network in MultiVersus.
MultiVersus Character Leak Hinted At Stranger Things' Eleven
Another leaked character that may be added to the game soon is Eleven from the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. Her telekinetic powers make her an excellent fit for the MultiVersus arena and would definitely make a lot of fans happy. Stranger Things is arguably one of the most popular series on the planet, and including Eleven in MultiVersus would definitely give the game a lot of hype. Eleven's voice lines and data did suffer the same fate as Gandalf and were cut from the game's files but that does not mean fans should expect not to see her show up in the game eventually.
The inclusion of Eleven into the MultiVersus character roster could also mean other Stranger Things characters may be introduced. Characters like Vecna, Sherriff Hopper, and Steve Harrington would be great fits for the party brawler. Vecna would likely be a mage character and could even possess enemies similar to how he does in the show. Sherriff Hopper and Steve Harrington could both be brawlers. Each character could also have some great skins, with Hopper having an alternate outfit from Season 4 and Steve Harrington getting his Scoops Ahoy uniform.
Dune's Paul Atreides Could Join MultiVersus
Denis Villeneuve's Dune was a blockbuster success, earning itself a sequel along with crossovers with other IPs, with Fortnite adding Dune skins based on Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya's characters from the film. The science fiction epic was based on Frank Herbert's novel of the same name and tells the story of a prince named Paul Atreides who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe in order to save his people. Featuring an all-star cast and stunning cinematography, Dune became a massive success and is one of Warner Bros.' most anticipated film series.
With Dune: Part Two releasing November 2023, MultiVersus could bring in characters like Paul and Chani into the game to market the film's release. This would please many sci-fi fans and fans of the space epic. Both Paul and Chani could be some welcome new assassins in the game, using items like swords and daggers in battle. Duncan Idaho could also join the battle, as he was a fan favorite in the first film and could fit the role of a tank or bruiser class.
Mortal Kombat's Sub Zero Could Join MultiVersus
Last but certainly not least, there are many characters from WB interactive media that would be amazing characters to unlock in MultiVersus. Mortal Kombat is a massive IP with a roster of heroes the developers at Player First Games can choose from. Characters like Scorpion, Sub Zero, and Kitana would be some great fits for MultiVersus and could definitely change the game.
Other big-name video game characters under the Warner Bros. name that could join MultiVersus include The Wolf Among Us's Bigby Wolf, Agent 47 of the Hitman franchise, and Talion from Middle Earth's: Shadow of War. Many of these characters are beloved in the gaming community and it would be a major treat for fans to be able to see them once again in another IP. Bigby Wolf would likely be a great bruiser while Agent 47 would fittingly be an assassin. Talion could fill the role of assassin or even mage with his wraith abilities.
MultiVersus has proven to be a massively fun brawler game for all ages. Featuring heroes and villains from tons of Warner Bros. IPs, the game has the potential to be even bigger and better than it already is right now, with Rick and Morty set to appear in MultiVersus Season 1 and characters like Gandalf, Eleven, and The Lego Movie's Emmet all rumored to follow. On top of this, there is a lot of potential for characters like Scorpion, Bigby Wolf, and many others to join the fray. Fans will just have to wait for the full release of MultiVersus to see if their favorite character makes it on the roster.
