A recent report says that Activision has major plans for Call of Duty: Warzone, which are likely to include cameos from Godzilla and King Kong.
Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. The full details of the Activision Blizzard lawsuit (content warning: rape, suicide, abuse, harassment) are being updated as new information becomes available.
A recent report says that Activision has major plans for Call of Duty: Warzone, which are likely to include some interesting cameos. The Call of Duty franchise has been around for nearly 20 years and has taken place in many different settings across the world, time, and even space. Warzone even saw a festive update last year during the holiday season that had players battling Krampus at the same time they were trying to win the battle royale.
Keeping the Call of Duty games fresh with content is something that Activision has been working towards since the game's inception. Each new release has been relatively the same first-person shooter style, but the mini-games and game types have changed over the last two decades. The original Call of Duty games were PVP maps where players would fight each other in hopes of getting a team win. Now, there are battle royale modes that pit players against each other without teams and the last player standing wins. There have been weapon improvements and gameplay improvements that have kept the series fresh throughout the years and the battle royale style has brought Warzone a lot of praise.
Xfire recently reported on the possibility of Activision bringing King Kong and Godzilla to Call of Duty: Warzone 2 which is currently in the works. There were images of concept art that were shared with the site by a Twitter user and within these images, a picture of King Kong reaching for a fighter plane was apparently included. Another that was said to be included was an image of Godzilla using his blue Atomic Breath against troops who were trying to attack him. Though none of the images were shown, it is an exciting thought to have these two titans included in the game.
While bringing heavy-hitter cameos to Warzone may seem odd, it's not uncommon for battle royales. Fortnite has included many popular characters over the years, like Thanos and Batman, but none of the games have seen the likes of Godzilla or King Kong. The idea of having to fight these kaiju at the same time as battling other players might be an intimidating thought for some players, and could even see an overpowering element that was present when Krampus was first introduced. Since Activision is planning on bringing an even bolder approach to Warzone it would be interesting to see if they decide to include a new gameplay mode that utilizes these two characters, but nothing has been mentioned or confirmed by the developers.
There have been a lot of exciting additions to the Call of Duty franchise over the last 20 years, like the possibility of Snoop Dogg showing up in Warzone, but including King Kong and Godzilla would be fun and intense element added to the game. Having to go against the giants as a one-player team would be intimidating, especially with the threat of other players also looming, but maybe there is more to these rumors than just the characters. Players will just have to wait and see what Activision has in store for the next Call of Duty: Warzone installment.
