With everything under the sun getting some sort of Wordle clone, why not Fortnite? That’s what the folks at Fortniteskins.com figured, and they have now created their own Fortnite-themed version of Wordle called Fortle that you can now place once per day.
Unlike some other Wordle clones, the rules here are identical, it’s just that the word list is Fortnite themed instead of using all 2,000+ viable words from the New York Times version of the game.
I played today and guessed the first thing that came to mind that was also the correct answer, BUILD, but there are a good amount of potential five letter options out there. STONE, FORTS, SPIES, TREES, STORM, KNOCK, FIGHT, SPAWN, SCOPE, PHASE, CRANK etc.
This is probably going to be harder than actual Wordle because it’s not always clear what would qualify as a “Fortnite word” and what wouldn’t, but I can see some die hard fans playing this every day and figuring it out, so I figured I might as well share it. Again, the rules are the same, just with different colors. Gold means you have the right letter in the right spot, purple means you have the right letter in the wrong spot. Grey is wrong letter, wrong spot.
As for Fortnite itself, we continue to truck along in Chapter 3, season 2 here, the Doctor Strange-led season that involves warfare between factions on the ground, and we are starting to see IO blimps crash to the surface as a result of the fighting. Fortnite recently donated all proceeds from the first two weeks of the season to Ukraine relief (thanks to the war theme being very ill-timed) and that raised an astonishing $144 million in two weeks, which I believe is the most I’ve ever seen for a video game related charity drive, even compared to others that have been raising money for years.
We continue to march toward Chapter 3, season 3, which is supposed to bring us new skins like Darth Vader and Indiana Jones as Fortnite continues its metaverse expansion. Epic Games just raised a few more billion to bump its valuation to over $30 billion, a collaboration that includes a sizable investment from Sony, and Epic maintains a great relationship with both them and Microsoft, where MS is using Unreal Engine 5 on what seems like the majority of its upcoming game projects.
Anyway, have fun with Fortle, it’s a novelty, at least.
