Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 Makes Darth Vader a Fish Out of Water

On June 5, the gaming sensation Fortnite entered into Chapter 3 Season 3: Vibin', with the update causing quite a bit of excitement. Aside from the standard fare of new additions to the map and the continuation of the story for the game's protagonist Jonesy and the island as a whole, a monumental unlockable made its debut. For players that reach level 100 of the battle pass, Darth Vader will be available. With Obi-Wan Kenobi entering the game toward the end of May, many gamers speculated that the Sith Lord himself would make his debut, as both appear in the currently airing Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Fan speculation was soon brought to a head, as Vader had been unveiled during the Chapter 3 Season 2 Collision event, cementing the fact that he'd be joining the game in Season 3. Darth Vader comes with a host of items such as back bling and an emote. However, as Darth Vader makes his entrance into Fortnite's Chapter 3 Season 3, he has a lot to take in on the unfamiliar island.

Vader In His Element

With Darth Vader joining the island, it does beg the question how he would react to being in such a world. Fortnite is a truly unique game, as Star Wars is a unique galaxy in its own right. Each has its own distinct rules, overall feel, and expanded world with various types of characters. Vader however is something the likes of Fortnite have never really seen before. Sure, the game has true bad guys such as The Joker and Venom, but Vader is a hardened killer. His merciless behavior would prove dominant over his competition in every facet, making him an unstoppable opponent in the eyes of his competitors.

He's cold, calculating, and can move through battle, fluently changing his strategy to meet the demands of his current situation. Not only is he a force to be reckoned with in battles themselves, but he's also just a truly menacing person just to look at. He's known to strike fear into the hearts of everyone around him, and that would prove true for Fortnite's cast of competitors as well. Throwing people around with his force powers and choking them would surely send the island's inhabitants running in the other direction as fast as they can.

On the flip side though, Vader isn't really in his element on the island. It's a cartoonish parallel to the galaxy he calls home. While the Star Wars galaxy might have its characters that look reminiscent of Fishstick, there isn't a comparison that Vader can draw from for a giant banana such as Peely. Confusion would definitely be a factor that could hinder his ability. Without his Lightsaber, which will only be available as a Mythic drop, Vader is going to need to master the ways of the ranged weapon. The weapons in Fortnite are not standard blasters, either. Vader probably has no idea what a standard bullet even is seeing as he wouldn't find them out where he's from.

Because he's sort of a fish out of water, his enemies could have an advantage. They all know how the loop works and have lived in it for months if not years. So by now, they have a grip on it and can use it against Vader in his first fights. It's going to take Vader a bit to fully get into the swing of things, but once he gets the hang of it, his enemies should be worried all the same. If anything, the Obi-Wan Kenobi series has proven that Vader has changed from his brash attitude as Anakin Skywalker and has learned to be a diligent learner who won't stop until he is the best at the task at hand.

Fortnite is free to play on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
