  • Leaked: Fortnite Season 9 Might Culminate In Epic Cattus Vs Doggus Battle

All signs currently point to Fortnite's ninth season ending with an epic battle between a giant monster and an equally huge robot.

All signs currently point to Fortnite's ninth season ending with an epic battle between a giant monster and an equally huge robot.

So far, 2019 has been the year of the crossover event for Fortnite. First Marvel, then John Wick, and next up is Stranger Things. However, for a while, we assumed that Godzilla would be making his way to Fortnite Island. In fact, we thought he was already there, and that the monster trapped within the ice beneath Polar Peak would turn out to be the legendary cinematic monster.

Since breaking free from its icy prison, Fortnite's monster has left a trail of destruction across the map and sought out solace in the ocean that surrounds it. The last time it was spotted was swimming around the island with part of Polar Peak still attached to its back. The only other thing we know about the beast is that its name is Cattus, or at least that's what Fortnite's code implies.

This past weekend, FortTory discovered something else monster-related in Fortnite's code. It would seem that those who want to rid the Fortnite universe of Cattus are creating a robot of equal size called, you guessed it, Doggus. FortTory posted a screenshot of the robot's foot and handily compared it to one of the footprints left by Cattus.

It seems as if the last few weeks of Season 9 are going to focus on the emergence of Doggus. That emergence appears to be happening at Pressure Plant, and might well be the sole reason for that part of the map even existing. We'd definitely keep an eye on that area of the map in the coming weeks as we imagine that's where Doggus will be assembled and readied for battle.

Fortnite may not have officially collaborated with Godzilla to celebrate the release of King of the Monsters, but it's probably safe to assume that this season's storyline was inspired by it. If there is going to be an epic, season-ending battle between Cattus and Doggus, we certainly hope it manifests in the form of an in-game event and we get front row seats to the monumental clash.
