Black widow may have been aesthetically appropriate, but there's still something just a bit off about Scarlet Johannsen's Avengers character bopping around the Fortnite island in traditional Fortnite-style: rolling around in hamster balls floating around with balloons attached to her back, dancing for no reason in the middle of a field. For this second skin, however? Makes perfect sense. Fortnite has revealed the second and final skin of its partnership with Marvel, and it's Star Lord, otherwise known as Chris Pratt in Guardians of the Galaxy. To see this guy taking a break from a gunfight to dance in a corner is no surprise at all.l Let's take a look:
New krampus skin in fortnite battle royale. The greatest of all time. He was released in chapter 2:Star Lord, like Black Widow, costs 1,500 V-bucks, putting it on par with a legendary outfit. Which makes a kind of sense: these skins are special, after all, but they're also still relatively straightforward humanoid skins. Legendary is usually reserved for the most elaborate, strangest things out there, things like Krampus or the Ice Queen. Star Lord comes with a back bling complete with baby Groot Keychain, and you can also buy the matching pick-axe and glider if you want to complete the set. The glider, in particular, feels like an important addition for someone so attached to his ship.
That's it for Marvel skins, at least this time around. There's a fairly limited selection of characters that both fit Fortnite's general aesthetic sense and who can reasonably be seen hopping around the island shooting people with assault rifles: it's easy to imagine what characters like Captain America or Iron Man might look like in the game, but it's harder to imagine them behaving like you do in a normal Fortnite match.
The Marvel crossover feels like a success so far, and I'm sure Epic is cleaning up on these skins. The real highlight has been the Endgame mode, which puts players on one side of an epic battle between Thanos and the Avengers, or at least Fortnite characters that have somehow gotten their hands on the Avengers weapons. It's much more elaborate than what we saw last year, which only featured Thanos himself and his stompy, laser-shooting ways.
