How Will Prestige Skins Change in 2022?

Prestige Skins are going to be a bit different starting in 2022. During the Season 2022 live stream Belissimoh, Product Lead of Personalization and Events in League of Legends explained that they will be working to create a better experience for players.

In 2022 prestige points will be retired, as well as gemstones – another currency used to buy/craft rare skins and cosmetics in League of Legends. Both currencies will be shifting to Mythic Essence.

With this mythic essence, players will be able to purchase rare cosmetics in the new mythic shop, which will have rotating goods. Oh and two different types of skins.

What Are the Two Types of Skins Available in the New Mythic Shop?

Since players did not think that Hextech skins were that special or unique, Riot has decided to create 'seasonal mythics' which will have a rotating thematic for unique skins in the mythic shop each year. In 2022 Riot will develop Ashen Knights skins for the mythic shop.

You'll also be able to pick up older prestige skins, so if you forgot to play during a specific time period and missed your chance to pick up a prestige Arcade Caitlyn, you'll be able to get it through the mythic shop which will have a monthly rotation of prestige skins available.

What Are Mythic Chromas?

With the introduction of the new Mythic Shop, Riot added new mythic content. One of the newest additions is known as a mythic chroma, which is a new chroma for either a Seasonal Mythic skin or a previously released legendary skin. These chromas have a new colour scheme for the champion, as well as their VFX.

What Skins Will We Receive in 2022?

In 2021, we received so many new skins, but we're expecting to get a lot more in 2022. New thematics will hit the rift, as well as the return of old ones. Some champions are also in desperate need of skins and Riot is going to give them some new skins in 2022.

Which Champions Will Receive Skins in 2022?

The champions receiving skins in 2022 are:

  • Gangplank - Gangplank the Betrayer in Patch 12.8
  • Fiddlesticks - Star Nemesis Fiddlesticks in Patch 12.13
  • Rek'Sai - Elderwood Rek'Sai in Patch 12.1
  • Trundle - Fright Night in Patch 12.18
  • Rell - Star Guardian Rell in Patch 12.14
  • Orianna - Orbeeanna in Patch 12.5
  • Heimderdinger - Heimerstinger in Patch 12.5

Fiddlesticks was also supposed to get a skin in 2021, but Riot had to push his new skin back, which is why he is on the list once again this year.

Which Thematics Will Riot Make Skins for in 2022?

Riot has stated that they will be revisiting some of the more popular skin lines this year:

  • Bee Skins - Patch 12.5
  • Star Guardian - Patch 12.13 and Patch 12.14
  • High Noon - Patch 12.9 and Patch 12.10

But, Riot is also going to take a look at an old stand-alone skin and re-imagine it and revamp it as a whole new skin line. The Battle Bunny skin, which was previously a Riven-only skin will be getting some love this year and Riot will release the Anima Squad skins. Those aren't the only new skin themes they're working on though Monster Tamers which won third place in the vote for new skin thematics in 2021.

Riot also stated that they want to revamp an old skin thematic to bring it up to par with skins in 2022. These are the choices for updated skin thematics:

  • Gothic
  • Infernal
  • Arclight

Players can vote in the League of Legends client for which skin thematic they want revamped in 2022. If the thematic you voted for doesn't win, it could still be revamped at a later date.

Which Skin Line Will be Revamped in 2022?

The community has voted and the results are in! The skin revamp for 2022 is going to be none other than Gothic! So, if you're feeling nostalgic to better and easier times – basically your middle-school days – then get hyped for updated Gothic skins.

  • Emumu

Gothic Re-Named to Firght Night

The Gothic skin line has been reworked and will be named Fright night. We recevieved concept art for these skins and they're going to include Draven, Urgot, Trundle and Renata Glasc along with the old champions.

That's everything about upcoming skins in 2022. We will continue to update this article, so you know which skins have been released thus far, which themes have been chosen and what champions received skins throughout the year!
