Fortnite is crossing over with Dragon Ball Z, and the collaboration won't feel complete without the Kamehameha. With Dragon Ball Z having been in the public consciousness for decades, its most famous attack is the thing most associated with the brand. It would be strange if Fortnite did not attempt to incorporate it.
Fortnite has crossed over with several different IPs over the course of its existence. Some of them are unsurprising, such as collaborations with popular DC and Marvel characters, while others, such as the recent crossover with Rick & Morty, were less expected. Although yet to be confirmed, there is even a rumored crossover between Fortnite and Dead by Daylight. Dragon Ball Z is only the latest property to cross over into the realm of Fortnite, and they will presumably be far from the last considering recent trends.
Dragon Ball is one of the most famous anime series to come out of Japan, and Dragon Ball Z is its most famous entry. The series follows the Saiyan warrior Goku as he fights against various threats to Earth with his incredibly strength and supernatural powers. Goku's most famous move is the Kamehameha, a massive blast of energy that he fires from his hands. The Kamehameha is just as much of an emblem of the franchise as Goku himself, and it has been referenced across all sorts of media in the past. Since Fortnite added John Cena's signature taunt as an emote, ignoring the Kamehameha would be a bigger surprise than adding it.
The Kamehameha Would Be Vital To A Fortnite/Dragon Ball Crossover
fortnite pilot skinAlthough details of the crossover have yet to be revealed in full, one can assume that a Goku skin will be a part of it. However, it would make no sense if the Kamehameha didn't make an appearance in some way as well considering it is as famous as the series' hero. Whether it is a mere addition of skins or a full-fledged event like the fights against Thanos during the Avengers crossovers, Goku's signature move cannot be ignored. Goku wielding a gun is already almost as strange as Marvel and DC heroes using guns in Fortnite, and depriving him of the Kamehameha at the same time would simply be absurd.
There are several ways that the Kamehameha could be incorporated into Fortnite during the Dragon Ball Z crossover. The most obvious route would be to make it an emote. Not only would this let Goku use his iconic pose and move in the game, but it also wouldn't affect the game for those who didn't buy it. Another way would be to incorporate the Kamehameha as a weapon during the crossover event. It could be an attack that deals massive damage, but has to charge before and after every use. That could make it a solid mechanic, plus it would be fun to see other characters unleashing it during gameplay. After all, Magic: The Gathering's Fortnite cards were a fun crossover, and the Kamehameha could be just as good, if not better.
Fortnite's Dragon Ball Z crossover has a lot of potential to be good, but they cannot forget about the Kamehameha. The chance to cross over with a major property is one that shouldn't be squandered, and the developers of Fortnite should know that better than most. The Kamehameha is one of the best things that could come from a Dragon Ball Z collaboration, and Fortnite should definitely use it.
